ALL ABOUT BAT HOUSES
This page is under construction but will hopefully answer the most common questions, or statements, that we hear.
Question/Statement - "I want bats around but not that many"
Answer - this statement is usually heard when we tell people that our bat houses hold between 200 to 500 bats.
The height, width, depth and multi chambers of a bigger bat house allows for a more diverse micro-climate. Bats will go to the front chamber, when they want heat, and move to the other chambers when they can't take the heat :^).
So remember - BIGGER is always BETTER when it comes to bat houses!!

Question/Statement - "If I put up a bat house, will it keep them out of MY house?
Answer - No - bats are creatures of habit and they will keep coming back to your house. They typically won't use the bat house until you force them to. This is done by having the house completely bat proofed and the bats humanely evicted. Then, when the bats come back to try and get in your house, they will relocate to your bat house (from our experience).

Question/Statement - "Why won't bats use my bat house?"
Answer - You want a multi chambered bat house at least 10' wide and 18" high (portion where they hang out). Try to meet all the conditions mentioned here . If your bat house has not been occupied, by bats within 2 years, try a new location.
